Our visit to the Clingmans Dome was worth the drive and hike. Stop at the Sugarland Visitors Center and then drive about 45 minutes to Clingmans Dome. Enjoy the seemingly steep and long (.5 mile) hike to the observation tower. The views from the highest point in all of Tennessee are stunning and worth the effort.
I first visited Clingman’s Dome with my parents and brother when I was ten. I still remember the day and the walk. It was tiring then but fun memories were made. Decades later, the walk is still tiring but absolutely worth the effort.
