Visiting the Capital, Frankfort KY

Have you ever spent time in Frankfort KY? While we learn about the Commonwealth Of Kentucky, we decided we wanted to tour the Governor’s Mansion in Frankfort. It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and is a residence and public building. The Governor’s Mansion has served as home to the state’s governors since 1914.

As we planned our trip to Frankfort, Kentucky, I was surprised to learn there is a Frank Lloyd Wright house located there. However, it is privately owned and not open for tours. It is on the National Registry Of Historic Places too.

We couldn’t spend time in Frankfort, Kentucky without a visit to the state’s Capitol. After a lot of debate between Louisville, Lexington, and Frankfort, it was finally decided to put the capitol in Frankfort.

A boat tour was greatly enjoyed, especially by the kids. It was informative and beautiful. The kids just liked being on a boat. There was also a lot of green space where we got to get outdoors and even take a self-guided walking tour in Frankfort, KY. We want to plan another trip to Frankfort when we have a little more time and can tackle learning about some history.
